Gorakhgad can be identified by its peculiar pinnacle separated from the main range.
Gorakh and Machindra are twins connected by a ridge. Buses are available from Kalyan
to go to Murbad (25Kms) from where we took a jeep to go to 'Dehri' (10kms).
From here it took us about two and a half hours to reach the summit.
There is a small road which is in regular use, which leads to the top.
After climbing for about one hour there is a temple and from here there are
steps carved in the rock which take u to the pinnacle. These being on the east side,
become too hot when sun starts rising, so it is better to climb up as early as possible.
Steps are about two to three feet high but there are quite a lot hand-holds carved in
them. Macchindragad has a rocky top with a lot of scree and hence you require proper
equipment to pursue this trek.
